Girls 1st birthday themes

A first birthday is always special to celebrate as well as to plan. Choosing a theme can be a little difficult however since your child doesn’t have an opinion yet! I’m in the midst of trying to choose a theme for my son’s 1st birthday and facing this issue at the moment (view this post if you’re planning your son’s 1st birthday for boys theme ideas)

So to help those of you planning your little girl’s 1st birthdays here are some fantastic 1st birthday dessert tables to inspire you with some theme ideas! These are all from the wonderful vendors on the Life’s Little Celebration’s directory.

Click on any of the below images to be taken to the Business where you can see more details and photos of the party.

Pink and gold is still such a popular colour combination for girls parties and suits a special first birthday celebration as seen here in this Ballerina 1st birthday and Princess 1st birthday:

Another idea is to base the party around a more neutral item such as a colour or shape such as this fun geometric 1st birthday party!:

Timeless Birthday Parties

Remember the type of birthday parties we had growing up? Parties filled with classic games like pass the parcel, musical chairs and pin the tail on the donkey?

Well today, Mardi from Party Ideas in a box is sharing some ideas for planning a birthday party with the same timeless and classic fun:

TimelessBirthdayParties_LLL_FacebookPost_March2015

“At Party Ideas in a Box , we believe that kids parties are best celebrated with fun party games and unstructured free play where children feel at home.

Party games make the party come to life and children know that games are a part of the party fun.

The best party games for children are timeless, classic games that are suitable for boys and girls, all ages, skill levels and are best enjoyed with no-pressure fun.

TimelessBirthdayParties_LLC_Facebook_March2015
Timeless party games can be played with either no props or with resources you already have in the home. Musical Statues, Simon Says, the Egg and Spoon Race or the Memory Game are perfect examples of these types of games.
Other classic party games call for more specific supplies, such as Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Our classic Pin the Tail  and contemporary Pin the Tail  versions have a different feel about them, but they are just as fun as each other!

Classic pin the tail on the donkey game

Let’s have a sack race- it is simple yet potentially challenging fun for every age group. The older children will sneak around the rules, creating such a creative element with this game. It is one of those games that children love to play again and again.

Our traditional potato hessian sack  is sturdy and strong and is perfect for both kids and grown ups. The lighter weight contemporary hessian sack version is ideal for young children to hold and jump.

The egg and spoon race is a simple relay race. Our version of the game is perfect as an allergy- friendly game and doubles as a musical shaker. Challenge the grown ups at your party to play the blindfolded version- kids will love the silliness of their parents!

Create the classic party ambience using our timeless party decorations such as balloons , streamers and windmills  . Bright, gender-neutral colours are ideal for this style of party.

Our high quality, brightly coloured fill-in invitations are ready for you to introduce your timeless birthday party to the party guests.

The classic style of party is ideal for 3-6 year old boys and girls birthday parties…or even an 11-14 year old girls birthday party (when it starts to become cool to do things when you were little!).

Celebrate your next child’s party the traditional way by playing the old party game favourites with Party Ideas in a Box

Dessert Table backdrops – Q & A

Today Ania from 2 Love Birds is guest posting and shedding light on printable backdrops for dessert tables – sharing the great effect they can have and answering some common questions about them:

With the increasing popularity of DIY parties as well as professionally styled celebrations, party backdrops have been one of our most in demand printable products. They can be a great focal point, they can give a dessert or savory table a background, convey a happy message or sometimes even cover a boring or an unsightly wall!

I would like to share a few of my favourite and most successful backdrops and parties.

“Come and make a Splash” – styled by The Sweet Society
Modern and clean but super fun at the same time! Instead of the more traditional “Happy Birthday” message there is call for action, which makes this artwork a little a bit more interactive and entertaining. Great idea for boys parties.

“Sew cute as a Button” – styled by Sweet Coco
This backdrop is cute, sweet and playful. Perfect for a little girls party.

PICTURE-2

Tropicana Dinner Party – styled by Kendra Plastow Styling
Floral backdrop which matches our Tropicana wedding stationery suite can be easily mistaken for wallpaper. Clever idea from the stylist!

PICTURE-3

Floral Minnie Mouse party – styled by Miss Deliciouza
Mint and Gold frame backdrop was designed for this Floral Minnie Mouse party. I love the idea of a 3D backdrop. It can be achieved by creating a plainer background and either sticking or hanging real objects in front of the artwork. Perfectly executed here by Miss Deliciouza!

PICTURE-4

Japanese Tea Party – styled by Sweet Bambini Event Styling
Once again, bringing the artwork to life by introducing real elements! In this case it’s the cherry blossom lights and parasols.

Hawaiian Party – styled by Styled by Belle
Who doesn’t love a Hawaiian party? This backdrop is busy and colourful with an equally opulent dessert table to match!

Q&A

What are the most common sizes for a party backdrop?
-BO size backdrop (1000 mm height and 1414 mm width)
-Full length backdrop (1000mm by 1800mm)

Where can I print my backdrop?
– Officeworks prints a BO size backdrop as well as any length by 1m high
so they can print 1000mm by 1800mm (full width of a trestle table). It’s not on their standard service list, but it can be done upon request. Both of these sizes can be printed on 160gsm paper.
– If you would prefer to print the backdrop on canvas which is more durable, you can send the artwork to Buggyboo (link http://buggyboo.com.au/shop/banner/
– Your local printer may have the ability to print large format artwork as well!

How can I hang my backdrop?
If the backdrop is printed on paper and is being stuck to a clean wall, Blu Tac is usually sufficient. If your backdrop is printed on a heavier stock 3M strips may be better.

Can I re-use it?
Of course! It’s a shame sometimes for the backdrop to be thrown out after the party. If the backdrop says your child’s name you can hang it in their bedroom as a personalised poster. You can also re-print the file if you like.

In the midst of party planning!

It’s just a week away until my daughter’s 4th birthday party

I cannot BELIEVE I am planning her 4th birthday…it is crazy how time flies! I started this blog when she was only 6 months old and planning her 1st birthday…and now here we are!

We decided on a Princess theme as she is a real girly girl and loves all things Princess at the moment.

I’ve decided to share a snapshot of some of the items I’ve included when party planning for this party.

I’ve found party planning easier as time has gone on since I’ve accumulated already a range of items that I don’t need to purchase each time I have a party (eg: cake stand, hanging decorations etc).

As always I support the vendors on the Life’s Little Celebration’s Directory so all the below items are sourced from them. Of course a few items are missing and once everything is captured on the day by Nikki Fitt photography I’ll be sharing the photos

Sources: Invitation: Jo Studio  Gold foil plates and favour bags: Illume Design  Mini ghost chair hire: Mini Party People Gold sequin tablecloth: Any Occasion Events Pink tutu: Sweet Pirouette Crown party hats, crown toppers, balloon tassel, pink and gold cupcake vases: Ruby Rabbit Partyware Glitter cake pop sticks: Glistening Occasions Glitter spoons: Butterfly Kisses Celebrations Carriage soap favours: Soap buddies

I am not an event stylist but I always enjoy putting together something creative for my children’s parties and I love actually using the products which I so often see and promote online! I’m one of those weird people who get excited about partyware!

Being 7.5 months pregnant at the moment means I also will try and keep the styling side of things a little easy on myself and I’ve also booked Cinderella from Fairy Fun to help entertain the kids on the day

Rebekah is so excited and that is the best part of it all!
