One of the first things I notice when I see all the amazing dessert tables being styled is the backdrop. It was also one of those parts of planning a dessert table which troubled me the most for my daughter’s party as there are so many ideas out there for backdrops!
So today I decided to compile some links of tutorials available on the internet of some DIY backdrop ideas.
If you want a collapsable stand that you can set up anywhere to attach a backdrop to, follow this tutorial to make your own!

A backdrop of paper rosettes can create a stunning effect and allows you to mix and match various colours and patterns of paper:

I was lucky enough to work with Pauline from Sophisticated Yum last year who created this amazing Mermaid theme dessert table. She created a netted backdrop which you could use for any sea related theme:

Now that Easter is over some of you may be turning your attention to Mothers Day!
So here is a collection of printables I’ve found to help you get started (some of which are free) for planning a celebration! Some ideas for what you could plan:
– An afternoon tea with a small group of fellow mum’s during the week
– A luncheon with your own mother/mother in law/grandmother or other motherly role models in your life
– A breakfast for yourself and the family and involve the kids during the week in cutting and preparing the printables
– Spoil a new mother or a mother going through a difficult time with a special meal or mini dessert spread!
– Have your kids bake some cupcakes for their aunties and Grandmothers and prepare the printables with them to present with the special treats
Whatever you choose to do, I hope that Mother’s Day will be a day where you are celebrated and you can also celebrate this amazing gift of being a mother!

I swooned when I saw the images of this Lalaloopsy Baptism celebration by Kate from Piece of Cake Parties & Celebrations for her daughter Paige! Kate decided to setup various tables each styled around the personality and characteristics of a different Lalaoopsy doll. What results is a gorgeously detailed and thought out celebration with loads of prettiness!
The main table was set up in front of their cubby house (looks like a dream cubby house!) and this backdrop is just gorgeous! Love the chandelier, gold birdcages and the pretty bunting which all work so well together! It is honestly stunning!
On this table Kate had cupcakes, white chocolate mousse, cookies and other sweets along with Paige’s beautiful two tiered Christening cake, decorated with sweet icing buttons & bows.
I just love the extra detail added to these mousse pots and drink bottles including the way the platters have been decorated:
This drinks table is ever so sweet and demonstrates a great set up which you could use for your own parties.
Styled around another of the dolls is this Morning Tea table with scones, jams and strawberry custard tarts complete with a biscuit tiled floor! I just love this beautiful table:
Also set up was an assorted cakes and dessert table again based around one of the Lalaloopsy dolls which has a connection with bandages, bumps and bruises – hence the cute extra bandage details on this table!
A lot of the party wares came from Kate’s own online store Piece of Cake Parties & Celebrations however there were lots of other great suppliers involved and full credits and sources can be found in the full blog post on this celebration.
Thank you Kate for giving me the opportunity to showcase this beautiful celebration for Paige!
With Easter around the corner I thought I would put together a few selections of some Easter items for those of you wanting to put together something special for Easter.
Easter is a great time to do some fun crafts with your children and make some special decorations and items for around the house – or perhaps a time you enjoy making ‘Easter’ related craft items yourself.
So these ideas are just something extra to go on top of that, or are for those craft-challenged mums (like me!) or perhaps time-poor mum’s who want something simple and easy they can buy to add something special to their Easter celebration.
Of course there are lots of lovely things at the shops as well and I particularly love the collection in ‘Bed, bath n Table’! However I know the convenience which online shopping can bring in planning your celebrations, so I hope this collections helps!

Space, rocket, astronauts and aliens will always be popular with little men and there is a lot available for this party theme to make it easy for your party planning!
Traditional colours of blue, green, red and yellow feature commonly with this theme along with silver. You could incorporate stars into your decor as well as lanterns for an easy ‘planet’ look .
You may choose to focus on only one area of the “space” theme for the party, such as Rockets if that is what your little one is obsessed with! Or go for a full space scene incorporating aliens and astronauts.
I hope this blog post provides you some ideas and inspiration for this Space theme!
