What are your Christmas colours? It’s a question that seems to be getting discussed a lot lately on facebook.
Do you go traditional red, green and white? Do you like to change it up every year? Or do you stick to the same (but unique) colour palette each time?
We all know Christmas is about a lot more than just the colours we decorate in and it’s important that we don’t put pressure on ourselves as mum’s to have a Christmas tree or dessert table that is ‘magazine worthy’ – especially when you have children who want to be hand’s on in the decorating!
However I always find decorating in a colour scheme (and choosing the colours) is a fun part of the early Christmas preparations!
Here is some colour inspiration for you based starting off with what is fast becoming quite a popular colour combination – bold red and soft aqua:

I love these soft colour palettes of blue with creams and golds for a fresh look:

Pink seems to be the ‘new red’ of Christmas! A soft pink, gold and silver colour scheme would look gorgeous:

I hope you have found a Christmas colour combination for Christmas.
It’s impossible to collate every possible Christmas colour combination available. So – what are your Christmas colours? Did I include them in this selection or are you doing something different? I’d love to hear from you!
I wanted to write something slightly different to my normal posts, as a way of reflecting on the most important aspect of any little celebration.
As I mentioned on facebook today – it is so easy to get caught up in the plans, ideas, props, decorations, to-do lists etc and lose focus, lose enjoyment and become stressed during a time when you are meant to be joyful!
I got thinking about this in the morning when I felt a sweep of excitement thinking about my daughter’s birthday party and imagining her in a pretty outfit, cutting the cake and celebrating her! Then I stopped and realised that I should be feeling like THAT a lot more often during this planning process!
Of course I can’t imagine ever planning any party or event without some stress and busyness. However I think in the midst of it all, it’s important to stop, slow down and remember that it is all about the person – not the party.
I’m not writing this to be preachy! I am saying all this to my own myself more than to anyone else 🙂
Yes it’s wonderful to have a beautiful party, a uniquely styled dessert table, lots of adorable details….however it is even more wonderful to have happy children, guests who have enjoyed themselves, and calm parents who are able to truly celebrate their child!
So hence the title of this post…”my child is the theme”.
As you can tell from my blog – I do love children’s party themes! I love that you can turn anything into a theme and have lots of fun thinking of unique ideas and props all related to that theme. I love cute touches, pretty features and creative activities!
However no matter what our party theme, the central “theme” is our child. They are the centre of the whole celebration! Celebrating them…celebrating the year we have just had with them!
All the extra bits and pieces are all ways we express that. As long as they remain ways we express this love and celebration then I believe they are all good!
So as I continue to plan parts of my daughter’s birthday I am trying to remember the focus of the celebration (her!), reflect on the amazing year we have had and enjoy these last few weeks that she will ever be in her first year of life.
My daughter does deserve a celebration as precious as she is. She deserves even more a calm and happy mother! I will endeavor to give her both! =)

Let’s go fly a kite!
This unique and fun theme is starting to become popular and after being inspired by some beautiful real Kite parties I thought it would be lovely to gather some ideas for this theme as we head into the warmer months! It’s a perfect one for all ages and can be styled for a boy or a girl. The best thing about this theme is being able to include some kite making and kite flying as part of your party which the children and parents are sure to enjoy!
You might also want to have a look at my Aeroplane theme post here for some cloud decorations which can work into this theme. You can also incorporate pinwheels into this theme and you can view my Pinwheel theme post here.
Any colour combination can work for this party but I’ve chosen some options in blues and whites to go with the sky/clouds colour. However if you view the amazing “Real Parties” listed at the bottom of this post you will see a lovely range of colours which could work for you!

I know that this theme isn’t one that automatically comes to mind when thinking of party themes but hopefully this post has shown you that you can really do a lot with a theme like this and you’ll be able to create a day with a fun experience for all the little one’s!
Life’s Little Celebrations is a blog for mum’s in the midst of their party planning – to provide them inspiration and assistance to save them time and stress!
However besides my blog posts I’d love to provide a page on my blog which lists some lovely suppliers of party items – whether it be party decor, handmade items, cake/cupake suppliers, invitation/graphic designers or event stylists! This is something that I would definitely find helpful myself and I am sure many other mums would as well.
If you would like the opportunity to be listed in this directory for a small fee/year please contact me at lifeslittlec@gmail.com.
I hope that along with my blog posts this page will be one that mum’s can easily drop into to source some lovely items and suppliers!
