Dinosaurs and Skylanders Academy Team Up

When you are presented with a joint party and ask the birthday boys what kind of theme they would like for their party you get this – a challenge of 2 themes that do not relate in any way – Dinosaurs and Skylanders Academy. A party inspired by two brothers favourites, Dinosaurs chosen by the 3 year old and Skylanders Academy chosen by the 5 years old. Their brief was lots of balloons, green from dinosaurs, blue for Skylanders, party food and fun! Confetti Party Hire delivered with this amazing party!

Combining the two themes appeared seamless through the use of the similar setup for each theme using props and light up letters of each boys name but tailoring each side of the room to each chosen theme of dinosaurs and Skylanders Academy.

Skylanders character props, themed cake, Skylanders Academy silhouette decals on props and chairs decorated the party for the Skylanders Academy loving 5 year old.

Dinosaur props, dinosaurs silhouettes and foot print decals, greenery, dinosaur printed tableware and cake were positioned through the party setup for a dinosaur loving 3 year old.

Clever colour lighting and balloon choices both pushed the colour themes to the next level.

Fun elements of kids grazing on kids tables and venue choice made the party memorable for both kids and adults. A fun way to celebrate a 3rd and 5th birthday for brothers.

Construction Party: Real Party Feature

Gayle from Joyful Invitations shares her inspiration for a construction themed birthday party:

“My son Jakobi has a quick mind. Quick to create, quick to play, quick to laugh and quick to make a mess!

Very early on we learnt that giving him creative ways to clean up would be in our best interests and so our ‘construction clean up’ was invented, whereby we would all pretend to be tip trucks and put our loads of mess away. Little did we know that our devious games would turn into a construction obsession, his room a growing tribute to his love of all things road related.

Jakobi’s party was therefore easy to theme. To give the party a unique spin, the main colour was a navy blue with accents of yellow and orange which makes elements stand out.

The cake, designed by Alena’s Cake Fancies was superbly executed, completely complimenting the invitations and creating height to the table.

The chocolate construction vehicles were created by Tanya at Creative Temptations. They were displayed in an upended container to further the construction feel of the table.

Cookies were elaborately decorated by the talented Karen at Piped Dreams and featured roadwork signs and construction vehicles.

Further table decorations included bubblegum tape that was decorated to look like a measuring tape, orange jellies turned into witches hats, jellybean tubes turned into roadwork signs and tip trucks carrying chocolate honeycomb designed to look like rocks.

The day began with all guests receiving hard hats and construction vests. They all put on construction tattoos and began to play Pass The Parcel with each layer revealing items like construction vehicle erasers, small push construction toys and grabber arms.

The fun continued with a competition of building constructions with paddle pops and playdough and then featured a piñata in a construction truck theme.

Guests were treated with a lucky dip where presents were wrapped up as rocks and selected with the help of a grabber arm.

Sack races were a highlight with caution tape adding a relevant nod to the construction theme and afterward, guests relaxed with a construction feast and the singing of Happy Birthday.

Overall this was a wonderful theme to create. Given that construction sites can often look messy means that recreating this in a theme allows the stylist to relax and not have to worry if elements look less than perfect.”
