Issue 11: Under the sea magazine shoot

An under the sea theme is ALWAYS popular with kids – because what kid doesn’t love the water? Confetti Party Hire blew me away with this Under the Sea themed shoot for our magazine: https://issuu.com/lifeslittlecelebrations/docs/celebrating_20little_20ones_20magazine_20nov_20202

 

 

Starting with that balloon backdrop which blew me away!! The backdrop totally set the stage for this under the sea party with the balloon wall and floating balloons which looked like bubbles! Mixed in are the fun under the sea foil balloons and the “4” balloon mosaic…and all combined together creates a truly incredible under the sea party setup!!

 

 

 

 

 

The cake was just a stunning under the sea inspired cake with gorgeous details of shells and coral by Dous Dolce in Sydney! Topped with a fun topper supplied by Favor Lane party – this is truly a cake to inspire other Under the sea themed cakes to come!

 

 

 

Juicy strawberries by Dom’s Strawberries Delight added to the delicious desserts for this shoot!

 

 

The kids table setting was setup with net draping centerpiece, custom party bags and party hats by Eve and Co Stationery and all styled with tableware from Favor Lane:

 

 

 

For entertainment you can’t get more perfect than a Bubble Entertainer for an under the sea themed party! Bubbleheads in Sydney did not disappoint with her amazing bubble show and bubble entertainment to create an amazing array for bubbles to entertain the kids!

Mermaid Party Supplies

I LOVE a Mermaid party theme….I think it’s because of the gorgeous colour combinations that you often find with this theme….coral pinks, aqua blues, mint green, lavender…I love it all.

It is very easy to style with shells and other sea related decorations however I don’t even think you HAVE to go overboard with lots of sea related decor. You can just go with a very sea inspired colour scheme and using lots of these colours throughout your party alone can create a sea feel.

Shark & Scuba Theme

With summer upon us, this theme is fantastic for any kids who love the beach or ocean and especially great for a pool party where you want more of a theme besides just a pool party!

You could base this party around blues and greens, along with another colour such as grey or something bright to go with a tropical feel such as red or yellow.

I have kept this post to mainly shark/scuba ideas although if you look into “Under the sea” parties online there are many more ideas out there which I’ll have to keep for another blog post!

Invitations/Printables

There are some great options available for this theme:

 

 

 

 

Decorations

Being an ocean inspired theme there are many ways you could decorate for this party.

A ribbon backdrop would work well for a dessert table to give an ocean/seaweed feel in shades of blue/green ribbons. Or you could use streamers to create a seaweed effect as well. Include fish cut outs and other ocean inspired shapes hanging from the ceiling (jellyfish, seahorses etc)create the underwater feel.

 

 

A backdrop such as this one could also be used for the table or other area in the party:

 

 

The soft floaty look of pom poms would also work well into the decor for this theme:

Create the look of the ocean floor for all the little divers with shells, corals, sea urchins, star fish and more!

Or simple ocean bath toys could be used for fun kid friendly decorations (or party favours)

Use these shell placecard holders to hold your food labels! You can’t even tell they are placecard holders so you could display them in a nice vase after the party too:

 

Use props around the party which double as birthday gifts for the shark and scuba loving birthday boy or girl. Using 2 water bottles you could create a scuba tank prop as well.

Nautical Theme

Those of you with summer babies may just be starting to plan and think about your next birthday celebration and the Nautical theme is sweet & cool for little boys, although I think it could be tailored to be a cute girls party theme too!

Now onto some decorations & lovely extras! There are just so many great things out there – hope you see something which inspires you!

These buntings are perfect for your Nautical theme:

 

The deep red paper fan featured here also comes in white so you could definitely combine the colours together for a unique backdrop! The shape of this fan reminds me of a ship rudder which is why I chose it as a great hanging decoration for this theme.

Balloons are still a much loved party decoration and this nautical design is simple and stylish!

How unique and cute is this cloud mobile? It would add a great touch to your Nautical setting and could then be hung in the bedroom after the party!

 

This fish netting would be fantastic as a backdrop or perhaps even placed over a white or navy blue tablecloth:

These mini tin pails could be used to hold favours or small items such as cutlery or straws or perhaps some small sweets:

Another sweet way of presenting some treats is in these little metal boats. They are adorable!

 

Now for some extra special items which would really help create a Nautical feel for your party! However obviously your budget isn’t limitless so as I’ve mentioned before I think it’s important to pick special items which could be used again in your home, nursery, playroom etc.
