Monster High party theme
This is a popular theme for older girls at the moment and to be honest – being a mum to 2 very young girls – I am out of the loop when it comes to this theme however I have done my best to find some ideas for any of you planning for this theme.
Now just some tips for when planning a licensed character themed party – it is important to NOT buy every single party item in that theme
Mix a few themed balloons with some neutral lanterns. Or pick up on some of the designs/pattern such as (in this case) bows, zebra print, argyle print, skulls – and use those prints in your decor.
If you have all themed items for plates, cups, tablecloth, party favour bags, balloons etc it will look like the character just exploded all over your living room!
By just picking a few items to be themed and the rest more neutral/plain, the themed items actually stand out more and look better. For example – if you are using Monster High plates, then use them with plain coloured napkins. Use a Monster High tablecloth with plain plates and cups etc
Invitations/Printables
A few different invitations/printables for this theme. However if none of them appeal to the look you want, you can contact the businesses in the Customised Invitations & Party Printables category on the children’s party directory who would be able to custom design something for you.
This first design is great for a more subtle look:
Decorations
For decorations I’ve focused the items around hot pink, blue and black and items incorporating zebra prints, bows and skulls to choose from.
If you’re looking for more custom made items to match this theme or items such as garlands, pom poms, toppers etc – have a browse through the Handmade & Custom Decor category on the children’s party directory.
This is a great printable to use to create your own bow garland:
Tableware
As I mentioned before – mix character based supplies with neutral supplies. So if you are using Monster High plates use plain napkins. Or use a Monster High tablecloth with plain plates etc.
These zebra doilies would look great perhaps on a white or a pink tablecloth underneath your plates or treats:
Sweet Treats
A few sweet treats and decorations for your dessert table:
The bright pink or blue cake stand would suit this theme and these cake stands are very affordable:
Hire
These are some hire items to inspire you of what you could hire (and perhaps find in your own state) for this party:
I think hiring a modern table such as this one would really suit this theme for the older kids:
Gorgeous black cane chairs for kids!:
Create a spooky entrance to the party with these skull fence posts!:
Stylish kids black chairs with a pink cushion would also look perfect for a kid’s table for this theme:
Since this party is for older girls you could get away with styling a lolly buffet with glass candy jars. Here are a few places to hire a collection from. For more businesses including ones in other states, visit the Hire category on the children’s party directory.
Love these ladder shelves for a stylish display:
Special Themed Items:
A fun activity for the party could be a dress up corner with some wigs, costumes and make-up:
Party Favours and Packaging
There are lots of novelty Monster High themed favours you can use for this theme. Here are just a few:
Another option is some general bright stationery for kids to go with the school theme:
Package them in Monster High themed bags, or decorate some bags yourself using printables:
Another unique option since the guests are a little older is to send them home with a baking mix with a bottle you can style to suit this theme, or a chocolate bar:
