It’s time to share the 2nd Life’s Little Celebrations collaboration shoot for the must-read party print magazine: Confetti Fair Magazine! If you missed the Swan inspired shoot catch up here. This was part of an amazing feature inspired by 4 various birds.
This shoot was inspired by the ever popular Flamingo! Again – an image of a flamingo wasn’t to be incorporated into the styling – however I love how the colours and tropical feel of this party setting as well as all the desserts bring the Flamingo theme to life and take it to a new level! The images really do speak for themselves so get ready to be taken on a bright visual feast!
The talented stylist of this shoot was Sweet Bits and Pieces (Sydney) and the photographer was Captured by Kirri
A range of other Life’s Little Celebration partners were all involved and all credits can be found at the end of this post!

A first birthday is always special to celebrate as well as to plan. Choosing a theme can be a little difficult however since your child doesn’t have an opinion yet! I’m in the midst of trying to choose a theme for my son’s 1st birthday and facing this issue at the moment (view this post if you’re planning your son’s 1st birthday for boys theme ideas)
So to help those of you planning your little girl’s 1st birthdays here are some fantastic 1st birthday dessert tables to inspire you with some theme ideas! These are all from the wonderful vendors on the Life’s Little Celebration’s directory.
Click on any of the below images to be taken to the Business where you can see more details and photos of the party.
Pink and gold is still such a popular colour combination for girls parties and suits a special first birthday celebration as seen here in this Ballerina 1st birthday and Princess 1st birthday:
Ballerina first birthday – I Heart Table Art (WA)
1st birthday Princess party – Opulenticity Party and Buffet Styling
Just as a Circus theme is a very popular theme for boys 1st birthdays, a Carousel theme is just as popular for little girls (and I used this theme for my daughters 1st birthday):
Carousel first birthday – Imagine Event Styling (Melb)
I always love a pink/yellow combination and a Little Miss Sunshine or You are my sunshine theme is gorgeous for a first birthday:
Little Miss Sunshine first birthday – Easy Breezy Parties (Melb)
A theme that is equally as sweet is a “Sew cute as a button” theme as seen gorgeously here!:
Sew Cute as a Button 1st birthday – Sweet Coco
With summer coming up you could base a 1st birthday around some summery themes like these amazing ones!:
Ice cream 1st birthday party – Dream a Little Dream (WA)
Popsicle first birthday party – Dream a little dream (WA)
Another idea is to base the party around a more neutral item such as a colour or shape such as this fun geometric 1st birthday party!:
Geometric 1st birthday party – Merc + Jones
An owl makes a popular and sweet 1st birthday theme and here are a few different takes on this theme:
Owl Love dessert table – I Will Invitations (Printables and Styling)
First birthday – Memories Are Sweet (Qld)
Hootabelle first birthday – I Heart Table Art (WA)
For a little girl you could also just go for a generally pretty and floral theme such as these gorgeous events seen below:
Floral first birthday party – Sweet Bits and Pieces (Sydney)
Floral first birthday – Milly Boo Designs (printables and styling)

Especially with spring around the corner this gorgeous lovebird theme is wonderful for a 1st birthday party:

Today Ania from 2 Love Birds is guest posting and shedding light on printable backdrops for dessert tables – sharing the great effect they can have and answering some common questions about them:
With the increasing popularity of DIY parties as well as professionally styled celebrations, party backdrops have been one of our most in demand printable products. They can be a great focal point, they can give a dessert or savory table a background, convey a happy message or sometimes even cover a boring or an unsightly wall!
I would like to share a few of my favourite and most successful backdrops and parties.
“Come and make a Splash” – styled by The Sweet Society
Modern and clean but super fun at the same time! Instead of the more traditional “Happy Birthday” message there is call for action, which makes this artwork a little a bit more interactive and entertaining. Great idea for boys parties.
“Sew cute as a Button” – styled by Sweet Coco
This backdrop is cute, sweet and playful. Perfect for a little girls party.
Tropicana Dinner Party – styled by Kendra Plastow Styling
Floral backdrop which matches our Tropicana wedding stationery suite can be easily mistaken for wallpaper. Clever idea from the stylist!
Floral Minnie Mouse party – styled by Miss Deliciouza
Mint and Gold frame backdrop was designed for this Floral Minnie Mouse party. I love the idea of a 3D backdrop. It can be achieved by creating a plainer background and either sticking or hanging real objects in front of the artwork. Perfectly executed here by Miss Deliciouza!
Japanese Tea Party – styled by Sweet Bambini Event Styling
Once again, bringing the artwork to life by introducing real elements! In this case it’s the cherry blossom lights and parasols.
Hawaiian Party – styled by Styled by Belle
Who doesn’t love a Hawaiian party? This backdrop is busy and colourful with an equally opulent dessert table to match!

Q&A
What are the most common sizes for a party backdrop?
-BO size backdrop (1000 mm height and 1414 mm width)
-Full length backdrop (1000mm by 1800mm)
Where can I print my backdrop?
– Officeworks prints a BO size backdrop as well as any length by 1m high
so they can print 1000mm by 1800mm (full width of a trestle table). It’s not on their standard service list, but it can be done upon request. Both of these sizes can be printed on 160gsm paper.
– If you would prefer to print the backdrop on canvas which is more durable, you can send the artwork to Buggyboo (link http://buggyboo.com.au/shop/banner/
– Your local printer may have the ability to print large format artwork as well!
How can I hang my backdrop?
If the backdrop is printed on paper and is being stuck to a clean wall, Blu Tac is usually sufficient. If your backdrop is printed on a heavier stock 3M strips may be better.
Can I re-use it?
Of course! It’s a shame sometimes for the backdrop to be thrown out after the party. If the backdrop says your child’s name you can hang it in their bedroom as a personalised poster. You can also re-print the file if you like.

I know you all love seeing some real parties and dessert tables, so today I have some gorgeous work to share with you courtesy of Renee from Lottie and Me who is based in Melbourne and one of the vendors in the Event Stylist category on the Directory.
Starting off with one of my favourites – a classic Little Red Riding Hood dessert table:
I love this whole mermaid party setup Renee created – from the dessert table to the kids table and dress up area:
These are some fun themes for kids – a reptile party and a pony party – both demonstrating some rustic styling in different ways.
Isn’t this setup amazing?
Lottie and Me also have a fantastic range of unique props you can hire in Melbourne such as this ultra sweet candy cart!:
There is a wonderful range of circus theme props on offer as well to help create a carnival atmosphere!:
I have shared some of Lottie and Me’s children’s parties above however Renee also styles beautiful weddings and adult occasions. This is an example of the elegant work she has put together:
