A fairy entertainer is the perfect addition to any fairy party! If you’re in Sydney you can find a wonderful fairy to fly your way at Fairy La la Land:
Fairy la la land – NSW
So what style fairy theme will you choose? I hope these finds have given you a good head start and your little fairy has a magical day.
Just like a great artist, an event stylist has a signature style that you can recognise on each and every one of their creations. From the vision to the execution of the candy buffets, the finest of details have a way of being brought together that leave a lasting impression on those lucky enough to capture the moment.
I’ve always admired the work of Melbourne stylist ,Victoria of Miss Deliciouza for her attention to detail and unique spin she puts on some of the more popular themes you think you’ve already seen every possible adaptation of!
Collaborating with many of our LLC directory vendors, Victoria’s candy buffets are a complete feast for your senses, and I can only imagine the gasps of delight from guests as they take in every detail and taste every last bite.
Eva, you were one lucky girl to receive a third birthday party like this!
A Safari theme is a popular choice for first birthday’s but I particularly like how Miss Deliciouza added more organic, earthy colours rather than the brights – and that backdrop!
The Disney masterpiece, Frozen continues to capture the imagination of young girls, making the work of a stylist extremely difficult, trying to create new designs each and every time. Using the Coronation Day colours and return of Spring in Arendale rather than the popular blue, white and snow (can you tell I’ve had my fair share of the movie too?!) looks absolutely gorgeous.
I could keep going for days with all the beautiful images from Miss Deliciouza events, but I won’t! Instead, jump on over to her Facebook page to see more of her incredible work and contact details for you to lock her in for your upcoming event if you’re in Melbourne!
Sometimes the hardest part of organising a party is just getting started – would you agree?
With so much inspiration provided by our talented LLC directory vendors, it can get a little overwhelming if you don’t have a theme in mind, and we can all relate to changing our minds over and over after seeing so many amazing ideas on Pinterest or Instagram!
I often find working backwards in the planning process can be helpful, albeit strange! Finding inspiration in the smallest details normally left for later in the planning process like decorations, tableware or the colour of the party outfit can sometimes be just what you need to get you off the starting blocks – backwards!
So when it comes time to pulling it all together, start with where you would normally source your products, such as LLC directory partner, The Party Parlour. What I have always loved about this site is that it’s literally a one stop shop for both inspiration and all the party supplies you’ll need to execute a coordinated event.
If you’re stuck for ideas, their party packages are a great place to start, presented in styled shoots with all the required items already curated for you to add to cart to complete the look. Themes are categorised by First Birthdays, Baby Showers, Colour and themes for boys and girls for easy navigation.
If you already know the theme of your occasion and just need the supplies to pull it all together, shopping by category makes ticking off your list a breeze with everything you need from invitations to tableware, unique balloons and garlands, glassware and favours, plus they post Australia wide for added convenience. Tick, tick, tick!
Or if you’re like me and partial to falling head over heels for new paper plate designs, their new arrivals can also provide a great starting block, like these gorgeous new items from Paper Eskimo. These would be so great for a circus or ice cream party! Just pick an item and let your imagination go.
These plates are exactly the type of product that back up my suggestion of working backwards – now just to find the occasion to use them…
Regardless of having a theme or not, The Party Parlour is a great place to start – from start to finish or finish to start!
What are your thoughts on my suggestion for working backwards when planning a special occasion?

Confetti Fair, the brainchild of Sydney mother, Claire Cassey, rides the wave of popularity for culinary brilliance and hosting prowess, offering creative party ideas and inspiration over two events in Sydney and Melbourne.
“The perfect party has made a comeback and there is an increasing appreciation for a well organised affair,” said Claire. “There are new blogs popping up every day and the number of new party businesses is quickly growing.”
“I used to spend hours and hours trawling the Internet looking at party blogs, reading online magazines and scouring through pages on Facebook when I was trying to plan a party.”
“One day I thought ‘You know what? It would be so good if I could just go to one place and choose everything I need and see how it will all look.’”
And so Confetti Fair was born. The one-day events bring together 45 exhibitors that answer all your hosting questions from amazing styling tips, delicious sweets, themes and stationery to floral arrangements, pretty décor and how to setup that perfect dessert table.
Sydney will be the first city to host Confetti Fair and people visiting can attend free demonstrations and see party setups by some of the best party stylists in Sydney.
“A good host thinks of the details; from the guests’ invites, to the delicious sweets on the dessert table, to the decor in the room and the garden, and the current trend of retro inspired fashion, homewares and attitudes means we’re not afraid to don an apron and get hands on.”
Confetti Fair is a place where seasoned and aspiring hosts can seek inspiration for their party, by finding out about the latest trends, learning traditional methods, simple solutions and all out extravagance.
Every little detail is covered at Confetti Fair, and you will leave with the confidence to put together a fabulous party of your own; an engagement party, kitchen tea, wedding reception, baby shower or a first birthday ~ it could be any type of celebration that deserves a party!
Having personally attended the last few Confetti Fair’s I can say that it is always a delight to see the amazing displays and party products! It truly is like seeing the online world of parties and desserts come alive before your eyes! Being able to actually see in person the gorgeous partyware or desserts that we often see online is not only inspiring – it makes party decisions so much easier!

So this year my soon to be 4yr old declared that she wanted a party in a play centre
I admit I do love home parties – creating memories at home and the personal feel of the party not to mention the ease of having all your supplies at your fingertips. We have had most of our kids parties at home – this being her 3rd birthday Snow White party last year:
However after 5 years of home parties (except two first birthdays in a hall) in some ways I didn’t mind not hosting the party at home….being able to avoid all the clean up definitely sounds enticing
However for someone who loves to style a dessert table and decorate for my kids parties…a party at a venue like a kids play centre doesn’t exactly lend itself to a beautiful setup which takes a few hours to get right..does it??
So if you’re a mum like me – loves to style and decorate your kids parties…and wandering how you can still do this outside of home – here are my top tips!:
Realise you can’t decorate the same as a home party
Home parties give you days to get ready for a party. You can set decorations up the night before and morning of the party. You have more flexibility with space if you want to setup a dessert table, kids table, drink station etc. by moving furniture around. You just can’t get this for a party at a venue – you may get 30 minutes beforehand if it’s a play centre type venue with parties back to back!
Rather than stress yourself trying to madly create an amazing setup, it is best to accept you just cannot decorate the venue in the same way you can at home – and you can think outside the box as to how you can use your creative ideas in a smaller way
Know the space you will have at the venue
Superhero party – I Heart Table Art
Make sure you do get a look of the room or space you will be allocated at the play centre so you can at least plan some decorations or what may work in that space
Ask the venue how much time you will have to setup and what you are allowed to setup or stick to walls etc
The image shown above is from a dessert table at a play centre where they had a superhero mural already on the wall which could be used for the party dessert table backdrop. It looks amazing and is an easy setup with the jars already pre-filled and a few added items
Use quick and easy decorations
Balloons are the easiest decorations for a quick setup – and these days there are so many fun and stylish balloons available for kids parties! Think jumbo balloons, confetti balloons, huge novelty balloons – they are fast to setup and will instantly make the space look great!
Balloons – Born to Party
Unicorn foil balloon – Poppies for Grace
You can also use a large printed canvas or backdrop that you can bring in to rest at the back of the cake table if you are keen to have some type of backdrop. This is a simple setup but it still looks gorgeous doesn’t it?:
Tahlia is the theme party- Pretty and Print
Setup a small cake table
A play centre doesn’t always lend itself to a huge dessert table but that doesn’t mean you can’t setup a nice small table if you want to!
I have seen lovely little setups with just a cake and party favour bags and perhaps some cookies or drink bottles…and that is it ! These can look really nice using some cute printables attached and can be quite quick to setup.
You can hang a garland along the front of a table and use balloons either side for some quick decorating.
For example in this gorgeous confetti party setup there are 4 platters/stands and the lovely garlands – and the effect is really cute! It is especially helpful if the venue has a white wall you can use – if not perhaps you can work in the colour of the wall into the party colour scheme!:
Sprinkles party – Sweet Style
Here is an example of a party table set up at a play centre in 30 minutes – jars were pre filled and with a simple, clean layout it is easy to put it together without having to reshuffle things around. Keep in mind printed backdrops do take a bit of time to setup and someone else assisting you is the easiest way to get it done in time and also someone to be there helping you with your children if they are also with you early at the venue:
Peppa Pig party – I heart table art
Have fun with the kids table
Most play centres will setup an area for the kids to eat food during the party. Rather than a dessert table – you could use your time of setting up to lay down a cute tablecloth, fun party plates and drink bottles instead of the ones the play centre uses. This can really make a big impact in the space and help to theme the party to match your child’s theme even without a dessert table.

Cut the cake at home
If you really love the personal feeling of cutting a cake at home or in a quieter location for your child’s birthday, there is the option of having the kids at your house before or after another party venue.
This works well for a SMALL group of older kids who may be going out to a movie or bowling for example rather than a toddler party.
Here are two gorgeous small set ups by stylists before the kids headed off to the movies and bowling:
Movie dessert table – Saffy and May
Bowling party – Favor Lane
Have fun with the party favours!
It’s all about seeking out what you CAN add a special touch too when it comes to parties at a kids party venue. Invitations is one area to add a cute personal touch and party favours is definitely another! By choosing unique and theme specific items or using fun packaging and tags – you can help theme the party bags and have a little (or a lot!) of fun putting them together!
Favour bags – Styling by Red Wagon Events. Printables by Pretty and Print
Favour bags – Styling and photos by Sweet Style
Party bag – Styling by I Heart Table Art. Tag by Pretty and print. Octonaut items from Favor Lane
So if your child requests a party at a venue – I hope I’ve shown you that there are still ways you can have fun with it and add personal touches while also keeping things simpler!
