A first birthday party is always so special to plan! Your little boy generally doesn’t have strong specific likes/dislikes and of course has NO preference when it comes to a party theme which means you have free reign to choose any party theme you feel will suit your child. I’m brainstorming ideas for my own son’s 1st birthday next year and am currently thinking of an ice-cream theme or perhaps a vintage tricycle theme.
To inspire you today I’m sharing some fantastic boy’s 1st birthday themes/setups by Event stylist vendors on the Life’s Little Celebration’s children’s party directory . I will soon do another post for little girl’s 1st birthday themes. Hopefully this post will give you some new ideas or party planning inspiration for your son’s 1st birthday!
Now of course for a first birthday party you could also go with ‘no theme’ and base it more around a colour scheme such as this amazing setup!:

It’s been 10 weeks (where did the time go?!) now since our little boy Joshua Xavier entered the world….and I’ve been meaning to ‘introduce’ him to you on the blog!
Although only due on the 20th January he arrived early on the 4th January at 1:40am in the morning. It was a quick labour – just under 2 hours – most of it at home – and we are lucky we left for the hospital when we did!
As you can see he was tiny…just 2.5kg –
We didn’t know we were having a little boy – however it was such a lovely surprise and after 2 girls already the ‘party loving’ mum in me has been already excited thinking of themes for his Christening and 1st birthday…just cannot help it!
It is so lovely to have a newborn around the house again as well.
His 2 big sisters love him and my husband had a lot of time off work which helped us all to adjust and settle into life as a family of 5.
Here is little Joshua now 10 weeks later!:
Of course it is tiring however I find I’m handling the night wakings and tiredness better this time around – hey let’s face it – I wasn’t getting THAT much sleep anyway with a 4 and 2.5yr old.
So in many ways the adjustment from 2 to 3 kids is easier for me than it was going from 1 to 2….the girls are older and have each other to play with and I am more relaxed and experienced as a mother.
Not to mention this little man is definitely worth the struggles that do come with having a new baby around the house.
However I am still settling into life with a newborn and around the clock feeding so in the meanwhile I hope you’ve enjoyed the guest posts I’ve been sharing on the blog with a range of party supplies for different themes. If you’ve missed any, catch up here….:
Ice-cream party supplies
Movie theme party supplies
Vintage floral party supplies
Lego party supplies
Summer fiesta party supplies
Construction party supplies
Confetti party supplies
Where the wild things are party supplies
Knight party supplies
Dessert table backdrops Q & A
Thanks for all the wishes on Facebook! I’ll be back blogging more soon but in the meantime make sure you visit the Directory for all your party planning suppliers!
Having a newborn definitely has reminded me why I started the blog and directory in the first place – trying to plan Joshua’s Christening and nearly everything has to be planned and bought online – so much easier than going out looking for things all day with a baby!
We are feeling very blessed and grateful in this house of ours right now and looking forward to celebrating Joshua’s Christening very soon too! xx
A movie themed party is fantastic for slightly older children and also a wonderful party to host in summer when you can setup an outdoor movie party ! Today Nat from My Party Boutique is guest posting sharing a complete range you can use to plan for this theme!:
Creating a Movie Night Theme for your child’s next party is made easy with the “Reel Hollywood” partyware range at My Party Boutique! Just add food and a movie!
To get the party started choose from 2 different fill in inivtations to invite friends and family to your special movie night.
Then set the scene with the coordinating tableware and a number of different decorations that are available in the range.
While the movie is playing service popcorn in the Popcorn boxes followed by the cutting of the cake and make use of the themed cupcake wrappers for some birthday cupcakes!
