New logo unveiling

I mentioned to you all recently how Life’s Little Celebrations is getting a {big} makeover and will be developing into a Party Directory site while still continuing the blog on this new site as well. If you missed the news you can read about it here.

Along with this makeover comes a new logo and I am thrilled to show it to you!

Thanks goes to the talented & patient Anna from Design With Style who has seen probably too many different shades of blues and greens thanks to me! =)

I wanted something with a celebration feel while still being classic and unique and I believe the logo is all these things!

Do you love it?

I hope so!

Anna has also designed the new website for me and development is starting this week!

Media kits will be emailed out in the next week so I can have everything ready for when the website is ready to go live which should be around June or July….my daughters’ first birthday party is also in July…crazy times ahead!

I look forward to stepping into this next phase of Life’s Little Celebrations with you ‘party mamas’ and I just know that the new directory is going to save us ALL a lot of time and put us in touch with some great businesses’!

xx

How Sweet it is to be loved by You….Valentines Day

We never make a HUGE deal for Valentines day around here but this year I thought it would be nice just to invite a few close friends and their kids for a little morning tea.

This little table was meant to celebrate the love between mothers & their children so I popped on one of my Willow Tree mother & child ornaments, along with a sign I made to go along with this theme.

I mainly used things I already had around the house and from previous parties and kept things quite simple and stress free.

The only things I bought were a few cute valentines goodies from Occasion by Design and I ordered the ultra sweet cookies from Cakes By Sharon

A little sign I made up…definitely feel this way about my kids (even if one is going through the “terrible twos”!)

These cookies were delicious!

Cake cut into heart shapes and toppers from Occasion by Design. Funny how a cute topper can really dress up something so simple!

Fruit in sweet wrappers from Occasion by Design. I managed to get my daughter to actually eat more fruit today by telling her it was “cupcake fruit”!

My SIL gave me a heart shaped muffin pan last year. So I used it to make these delicious savoury muffins:

Hope you had a sweet Valentines Day as well!

Celebration agenda for 2013

It’s a new year and I hope you all had wonderful Christmas and New Year celebrations!

I’ve started thinking ahead to what is on our celebration agenda for 2013 and I thought I’d share what’s on our plan for the year!

Coming up first is my nephews First Birthday. My sister wants a Winnie the Pooh theme for him and I’ll be trying to help her out a bit with the decorations. I have two girls so it will be fun to help out with a boy’s theme party for once =)

I’ve started a little bit of searching online already for a nice Winnie the Pooh printable/invite set of which there doesn’t seem to be many!

I’m liking the classic and cute look of this one:

Also loving these toppers!:

Next up will be my own daughter’s first birthday! I am tossing up whether to have a big party or keep it at home. My husband has a large family (15 aunties/uncles) so it is only when we have a big affair in a hall I can actually have all his family there.

However such a large party also means a large expense. Of course I could keep it in a hall but keep it casual – serving morning or afternoon tea rather than lunch. I have been to a few 1st birthday parties with a similar casual feel but in a hall just to accommodate larger numbers.

I have been leaning towards doing a Carousel Theme…I love this theme for a girl. I could tie it in with the idea of a 1st birthday – starting the ‘ride’ of her life etc….

While searching online I came across this amazingly beautiful Carousel Party!:

Pretty Carousel Party - On to baby blog

Talk about gorgeousness overdose! Unfortunately I won’t be having lifesized carousel horses at my daughter’s birthday unless any of you have one in your spare room to lend me =)

Also stumbled upon these amazing cupcake toppers:

I’ve also been trying to find a nice printable or invitation set I like for this theme. It’s a bit hard when I haven’t decided on a colour scheme yet!

Do you let the colour scheme dictate your printable? Or do you choose a printable first that you like and that sets your colour scheme?

I did stumble across this pretty invitation which caught my eye:

Carousel party invitations - Pink Frosting

The search will continue! =)

Then next up is our 5yr anniversary! How did you celebrate your 5 year anniversary?

I’m thinking – either a night or weekend away (depends on whether I’m still b/feeding my daughter who will be 13 months by then).

Another option is a celebration with our bridal party.

Or maybe we can do both? =)

Decisions, decisions!

Then finally for us will be my other daughter’s 3rd birthday!

No idea what theme I will have for her! I have to see where the year takes her and what her interests are as the year goes on =) She did receive some fairy toys for Christmas so perhaps that could lead us to a fairy related theme. Anyways I have 11 months to plan that party, so loads of time! =)

This year I’m also thinking of doing a candy buffet at one of the celebrations. I’ve only ever put together a dessert table so I thought it would be fun to try a candy buffet – perhaps at the anniversary celebration where there is more adults and I know the glass jars will be safe =)

How about you – what is on your party agenda for the year?

Would love to hear from you!

Christmas Wishes

A note to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a lovely holiday time with your families. May it filled with lots of celebrating, feasting and love!

Christmas is the biggest celebration of the birth of a child and I love Christmas and am excited to be this year celebrating my second daughter’s first Christmas! To think that last year at this time she was just a little soul inside of me. And now here she is at 5 months (my 2yr old was too scared of Santa for a photo!)

I hope those of you going away will have a safe and fun journey!

I also hope that those of you missing loved ones at this time are still able to find comfort and joy this Christmas

a little Christmas decorating at home

Thank you all so much for your support and all your comments (on the blog and facebook)

I have enjoyed being a part of this community during 2012 and have truly appreciated all your feedback and all the inspiration so many of you provide me through your ideas & party images!

See you all in 2013!

What pictures cannot show…

There are SO MANY GORGEOUS parties which talented and creative mums and party stylists have put together and showcased that I am in awe of. However it also makes me slightly intimidated and shy to show pictures of my own daughters celebrations!

I see the photos and I notice lots of things which I should have and could have styled better and done differently.

However it’s also important to keep things real.

As a mum of a 2yr old and a 4 month old having 2 celebrations in a fortnight was hard work and I told myself I would not put as much pressure on myself because I just did not have the time this year.

I know a lot of you are also in the same boat. As much as you would love to have the most gorgeous or uniquely styled party for your child, sometimes you run out of time, or energy or money to do it all the way you would have liked.

I will still show the photos however (once I finish sorting through them! sorry I’ve been slow with this) even though my celebrations do not reach the heights of some of the beautiful parties I share via facebook =) In the end I’m not a party stylist – I’m a mum who wants to celebrate my kids – and I do the best I can with that =)

None of us should ever be shy or intimidated to share our party photos =)

What the photos cannot show is the joy of the child being celebrated and their friends, the pride of their grandparents, the love of their parents. It doesn’t show the love and time poured into the various food and decorations for the party. It doesn’t show all the amazing memorable moments which have taken place during the party and before and after. These are what really matter more than ANYTHING else.
